Our Tuesday Task Mornings benefit from a group of hard working people who do their best to keep the Dell and the park looking good. We have been strimming and raking the park area and parts of the Dell.
We have spent time clearing the paths of the leaves in order to make them safer to walk on. We have kept the hedgerows weeded so that the young hedging planted some time ago is able to thrive and not be smothered in weeds.
We have our regular litter pickers who keep the place looking very tidy.
There have been wild flower walks in the Dell and support in our activities from local schools. Mention must be made of some of the pupils at Sunnyside school who did a special assembly about Fairy Dell and produced some wonderful drawings about the Dell. We were proud to display these when we had our stand in the Parkway Centre in August, but also you can see the drawings in some of our notice boards.
Children from St Augustine's school have been busy helping us to plant trees alongside the cycle path adjacent to the park. The trees were provided by the Woodland Trust..
We are grateful to Geoff Walker of 'Symbols, Signs and Screen prints' for kindly donating the new Interpretation Panel and a new piece of Perspex to cover the panel. This has greatly improved the appearance of the history board by the top lake.
At our monthly meetings much business is done and now there is a more positive feel to the meetings as we observe our progress. The Annual General meeting on November 9th elected a new committee and all those Friends who do not get to meetings will have received notification of this meeting. We reviewed all the good things that have happened in the last year and we look to the future with optimism. We elected our officers and thanked the committee for all their hard work.
We can look back on successful grant applications, transforming parts of the Dell. We can remember our Festival Day and all the many people who came along to enjoy the fun.
What we remember most is the hard work of all the Friends, whether they attend meetings, or work on the Task mornings, or support us in many other ways, we are grateful to you all.
