5K Fun Run

“This way please….”

The Very popular race that includes Fairy Dell and Newham Grange Country Farm was one of a series of 5 organised under the auspicies of North Yorks Moors athletic club.

Bob Howe, Roy Bradley and lots of volunteers the with support of both Middlesbrough and Stockton borough councils bring the event together.
The races are all 5k and are all based in parks in Teesside. They are open to everyone whether in a club or not and the primary aim is to give folk, who've possibly never raced the opportunity to compete in a low key event, ie no pressure.
We also attract many runners from local clubs so the entrants abilities and hence finishing times often vary from about 16 mins to more than 40 mins.
All competitors are treated with the same respect and the later finishers often get a bigger cheer than the winners.
Our main target is to spread the word that running's fun.
We usually attract between 150 and 200 runners and we are really pleased at the events popularity, which makes our efforts very worthwhile.
Everyone is insured under the England Athletics Association as NYMAC are affiliated to this body.
Entry Fees are £3 for club members and £5 for none athletic club members (£2 levy covers the insurance)
All the cash raised is divided between prizes and commemorative gifts to the runners, Charity donations with a proportion returned to club funds.
Full details of previous charity donations are shown on the Series Website -
www.teestrailraces.org  as is the list and details of future events, the next being this Wednesday 13th at Cowpen Bewley Country Park.
