We’re proud to be one of Skipton Building Society’s Grassroots Giving

Winners, recognised for supporting our local community.

In June 2011, the Friends of Fairy Dell were awarded a grant from Middlesbrough Council to run the annual event of the Fairy Dell Festival. Grants were also given by Marton West Community Council and Marton Community Council towards the cost.  We are extremely grateful for this funding – it enabled this popular annual event to be possible again because earlier Festivals had been funded through Lottery grants.

The Friends of Fairy Dell try to encourage the use of this countryside area by the local community and also have local primary schools use Fairy Dell throughout the year and participate in the activities held there. The Friends’ group continue to work with Middlesbrough Council to further improve this beautiful area in the centre of housing.  It is a haven of peace, with wildlife and biodiversity for the community to enjoy.

The event was very successful. There were 45 exhibitor stands and over 500 visitors attended. The weather was good until 3.30pm when pouring rain stopped everything.

The ‘Friends of Fairy Dell’ wish to thank Middlesbrough Council and especially the Parks and Countryside Department, for their continued support.
